Animal Neglect is a situation where the animal’s owner or caretaker fails to provide food, water, shelter or veterinary care sufficient for survival. Neglect can be either deliberate or unintentional, but either way, the animal suffers terribly. Not providing any of the following, especially veterinary care when the ferret is injured or suffering from an illness or disease such as insulinoma or adrenal, or other health reasons, is not right. It is not acceptable to allow your ferret to suffer. Extended periods of neglect can lead to seriously compromised health or even death.
If your ferret requires URGENT veterinary attention, then please do anything in your power to seek that treatment. Don’t put it off regardless of what you think or believe. This animal cannot speak for itself. It cannot tell you “I’m hurting, It hurts. I don’t feel well….” You as the owner, need to take responsibility and have the ferret vetted otherwise this animal will go downhill and this animal could and most likely will die a very horrible death.
Animal Neglect is against the law in many countries, it can be considered cruelty and regardless of if it was intentional or not, you still can get intro trouble for not providing adequate care. If your ferret is in a bad way and desperately needs VETERINARY TREATMENT, please do not hold off on it!
**If one of our ADMIN tell you to VET, then please VET ASAP.**
We will NOT keep your post active if the animal is suffering or desperately needs veterinary care. We can only advise you on appropriate measures you can take. Not all our admin are knowledgeable in ferret first aid treatments, but regardless, if one sees a ferret needs vet care and advises so, then please do not ignore that advice. Those that know basic procedures may help you UNTIL YOU CAN VET ASAP. We CANNOT replace a REAL Vet. You risk the health, wellbeing and safety of your ferret if you do not vet your pet.
Thank you very much for reading.
